Three European clubs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa, have commended Egypt for qualifying for the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

Egypt defeated Ivory Coast 5-4 on penalties in the AFCON round of 16 on Wednesday to qualify for the quarter-final stage.

The encounter ended in a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes.

But Mohamed Salah’s winning penalty ensured Egypt eliminated Ivory Coast from the tournament.
