Some alleged fighters of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the militia wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have been killed by the Nigerian Army troops during a raid carried out by the Golden Dawn personnel deployed to Ebonyi State.

The gunmen were reportedly killed in a gun battle on Friday after the troops launched an attack on their camps located within Ochokwu village in the Ikwo Local Government Area of the state during the clearance operation.

Some of the items recovered included AK-47 rifles, rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, magazines, Biafran flags, among others.

A source told PRNigeria that the secessionists had been occupying the hideout for some time.

“Troops exchanged fire with the gunmen. They subdued the IPOB militants”, the officer said.

The military on Saturday also earlier made the announcement of the elimination of ESN members who killed Department of State Services (DSS) operatives in Anambra.

The officers were part of security personnel on protection duty for a campaign rally ahead of the Anambra State poll which will hold on Saturday, November 6, 2021.
