Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong voted in Ajikamai, Shendam Local Government Area, with the expectation that the APC will win across the board.
The governor was joined by Mrs Regina Lalong, the governor’s wife, his kids, and other family members.
The Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Lalong, expressed his surprise at voters’ turnout in the several polling stations he saw while travelling to cast his ballot and from the accounts, he has been hearing around the State.
He claimed that so far, the elections have been peaceful and that he is not aware of any threats to the process in the State.
He praised the Plateau State residents for their enthusiasm and calm behaviour, which he said demonstrated their political maturity.
He argued that those who may feel wronged should seek redress through the judicial system rather than incite violence and destruction that is harmful to the country.
Lalong whose tenure as Plateau state governor will end this year is contesting for the senatorial seat of Plateau South Senatorial District
When asked how he felt about voting for himself in the ongoing election, Lalong said: “I am used to it and this is not the first time. I did so many years back as a Member House of Assembly voted twice; during my Recall ordeal; as Governor twice and now as Senator by the grace of God. I am indebted to my people for their confidence in me and continuous support which I will never betray”.
