#NigeriaDecides: Nigerians Abandon Homes, Sleep In Polling Unit With Mosquito Nets (VIDEO)

A video making the rounds on social media has shown electorates sleeping over at a polling unit ahead of the presidential elections.
In the video, some individuals can be seen fast asleep, with others going as far as bringing mosquito net to the venue.

The person making the recording claimed that it was 2 am in the night.

It was reports that it has indeed been a long road to the 2023 general elections.

Compared to other years, the stake in this year polls is quite high.

The record number of registered voters of 93.5 million, the dominant demographics of 48 million youths have shown that the lackadaisical attitude often attributed to Nigeria’s elections has greatly reduced.

Along the way, there were historic developments such as the Electoral Act 2022, the massive registration for Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) and INEC’s seismic switch to technology-driven elections using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

The major contenders of this year presidential election are Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
