Osun NSCDC secures vagrant teenager

The Osun Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken into its custody, Sunday Ademola, a 17-year-old vagrant.

Confirming this to journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, through Atanda Olabisi, the Osun Command’s Public Relations Officer, the Osun NSCDC Commandant, Emmanuel Ocheja stated that the teenager was brought to the Ede North Local Council Development Authority, NSCDC Division after he was found roaming about, along the Owode-Ede axis of the Gbongan-Ibadan highway, naked and with his hands tied to his back.

Atanda explained that immediately the matter was brought to the attention of the Divisional Officer, Ede North LCDA, the teenager, Sunday Ademola was taken in for questioning and medical observations.

The Osun NSCDC spokesperson stated that upon medical examination, it was discovered that the teenager had no mental health challenges.

According to her, “Upon physical observations, the teenager’s hands were found to be tied behind his back. He had bruises on his head and it was suspected he was beaten mercilessly by person(s) yet to be identified.

“After Sunday was given first aid treatment by the medical team of the Divisional Office, he was interrogated and in his words, he said, ‘my name is Ademola Sunday, I am from Inisa, Onira’s Compound.’ His name and picture was sent to the said compound but no one seems to recognize him there.

“However, the case has been reported to the Ministry of Women Affairs, Osun State Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo and from there Sunday was taken to the Correctional and Rehabilitation Center, Testing Ground Osogbo, with the hope of uniting him with his parents soon.”

The corps spokesperson, Olabisi, however, urged citizens of the State to continue to report any suspicious movement to the nearest NSCDC office for quick intervention.
