Finally, Obaseki Sends Bill To Ban Open Grazing To Assembly

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has sent a bill for a law to prohibit open grazing of cattle and other livestock in the state to the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA).

This is coming after some southern states passed the bill into law placing a ban on the movement of cattle by herders in public places.

The law will serve as a measure to curb persistent clashes between herders and farmers.

Speaking on the bill during the plenary Tuesday, Speaker Marcus Onobun said the bill had been receiving inputs from members and different stakeholders.

He added that the bill had been slated for consideration on a later date to give room for more consultation and recommendations by members.
