Four Killed, Houses Destroyed As Fulani Militias Carry Out Fresh Attack In Southern Kaduna

Suspected Fulani herdsmen on Tuesday night attacked Sabon Kaura village in Atyap Chiefdom, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Naija News understands that at least four persons have been confirmed killed and many houses burnt down.

Many people were reportedly missing after the attac, with scores injured by the militia.

“The suspected Fulani militias came in their hundreds and carried out their plan. For now, four persons have been confirmed killed while many are missing while l cannot confirm those injured,” a source told Daily Post.

The source revealed that the entire village was left in total confusion after the surprising attack.

He said that security operatives could not stop the attack as there were only five military personnel present.

ASP Mohammed Jalige, the state Police Public Relations Officer, did not respond to calls put to his phone to confirm the incident.

Abducted Kaduna Catholic Priest Regains Freedom
A Catholic priest kidnapped in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Joseph Shekari, has been released.

Naija News had reported that the priest in charge of St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Pari Parish, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen during an invasion of his residence on Sunday.

The gunmen killed a yet-to-be-identified cook working in the parish house during the attack and carted away N2 million realised from a thanksgiving service.

Confirming the release of the priest in a statement on Tuesday, the Chancellor, Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Uchechukwu Okolo, said the priest was released around 10:30pm on Monday.

Okolo prayed for the repose of the soul of the cook who was killed during the attack and appreciated those who have offered prayers and entreaties for the release of the priest.
