AFCON 2021: Tunisia deserves to qualify for quarter-final – Nigeria coach, Eguavoen

Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has said that Tunisia deserves to qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-final.

Eguavoen said this during his pre-match press conference on Saturday.

Nigeria and Tunisia will clash in the 2021 AFCON round of 16 tie on Sunday night.

The Super Eagles head to the game after winning all their matches in the group stage, while Tunisia won one and lost two matches.

“We topped our group with maximum points, but this is a totally different story, and the players and technical staff know this well,” Eguavoen was quoted by CAF Online as saying.

“We are not done with what we had in the group. We will work together for the coming steps.”

He added, “Tunisia deserved to qualify [for quarter-final], and we respect each other.

“We both have the same target, which is to win and qualify. We will continue to work in the same way.”
