‘He’s Never Coming Back To Police Force’- Nigerians React To Abba Kyari’s Suspension

A storm of reactions by Nigerians has greeted the immediate suspension of the Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), DCP Abba Kyari, from the Nigeria Police Force.

IGP Usman Alkali Baba, in his letter to the Police Service Commission, dated 31st July, 2021, noted that the recommendation for the suspension of the officer, is in line with the internal disciplinary processes of the Force.

The details of the IGP’s letter recommending the suspension of Kyari were made available in a statement on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba.

According to the statement, the IGP noted that the suspension is also expected to create an enabling environment for the NPF Special Investigation Panel to carry out its investigations into the weighty allegations against DCP Abba Kyari without interference.

The statement added that the suspension is without prejudice to the constitutional presumption of innocence in favour of the officer.

Moments after the news of the suspension went viral, Nigerians took to various social media mediums to air their opinions on the suspension

Here are some of the reactions captured below…

@LibertyRep wrote; ‘That’s the first step of many steps. Many damning allegations have been made against this same super cop recently yet not even a single strand of hair on his head was touched by the Authority. He is being ‘ touched ‘ now because America is involved. Last last na soft landing them go still arrange for the guy.’

@ThEGodFaThEr103 wrote; After suspension, he should be extradited to the US to go and defend himself. If he’s found guilty which we know he would because he’s a corrupt super-fraud, let him willingly do the time so that this will serve as a deterrent to other public office holders and corrupt politicians in Nigeria.
