Obasanjo: Your days are numbered – Bamgbose slams Femi Adesina

Olusegun Bamgbose, Esq., National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance (CAGG), has berated Femi Adesina, the Media Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, over what he described as unprovoked and uncivilized attack on the personality of former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

Bamgbose said that Adesina’s attack on Obasanjo was very perturbing, adding that one would have expected the presidential aide to accord the statesman a certain degree of respect.

Adesina had hit out at Obasanjo, asking the former President to mind his utterances as he also contributed to the current chaos in the country.

He stated this in a piece on Friday titled, ‘Nigeria’s Unity And All The Iberiberism’.

This was following a recent letter to President Buhari by Obasanjo, where he highlighted how the Federal Government paved the way for the crisis between farmers and herders in the country.

Obasanjo had said that the crisis started when the Nigerian government treated the issue with a “cuddling glove instead of hammer.”

In the letter, Obasanjo lamented that the crisis which has escalated into criminality has been linked to the Fulani tribe.

And Bamgbose, a 2023 presidential hopeful, noted that it has become very obvious that media aides in the Presidency behave like mercenaries, not men with a mission.

“When has it become a crime to show concern for the wellbeing of his nation. Before the 2015 Presidential elections, Femi Adesina was using the Daily Sun to lambast Jonathan and educate Nigerians on the need to bring Buhari on board as President,” the senior lawyer noted in a chat with DAILY POST.

“Reuben Abati who was Media Aide to Jonathan then never for once asked him to keep quiet. The same applied to when Buhari with others protested and asked Jonathan to resign for his inability to curb the wave of insecurity.

“Femi Adesina should have known that Obasanjo is a more well-grounded Nationalist than Buhari. He is far more detribalized than Buhari.

“His administration was a hundred times better than that of Buhari. Obasanjo remains the best Nigeria President that created an enabling environment for the empowerment of youths.

“He brought in GSM that has helped in employing and empowering millions of our youths in the country. Obasanjo is more committed to the unity of Nigeria than Buhari.

“Buhari won’t have had the opportunity of becoming the President without the tacit support of Obasanjo. One will urge Buhari to caution his Aides.

“How old was Femi Adesina when the civil war broke out in 1967 that he seems to know more of what happened? What gut did he have to caution Obasanjo? Let him watch his utterances because his days are numbered in the State House.”
