The Nigerian Army authority has released names of officers and gallant soldiers who deserted the war front in Borno State.
The Army declared 12 officers and 86 soldiers missing following an attack by Boko Haram insurgents on Marte and Dikwa local government areas of Borno.
The record was contained in a signal released on the 1st of March from Operation Lafiya Dole Headquarters in Maiduguri. It was revealed that three majors, three captains, six lieutenants, three sergeants and 89 gallant soldiers fled in the aftermath.
Scores of the military men were killed during the attack by the dreaded terrorists during the invasion. Sources told newsmen that the troops were overwhelmed in the face-off and decided to desert the war front as they could not withstand the superior firepower of the terrorists any longer.
Acting on the desertion, the army authority ordered the search and arrest of the fleeing officers, order also that their bank accounts be frozen. Naija News learnt that the order came from authorities of Operation Lafiya Dole in Borno which notified other formations of the army to immediately apprehend and deliver any of the soldiers found in their areas of responsibilities.
