#EndSars: Lagos Youth representatives asked to sign Oath of Secrecy – Nigerians react

The youth representatives at the judicial panel set up by the Lagos state government to investigate cases of police brutality, have been asked to sign an oath of secrecy.

However the youth representatives have strongly refused to sign the oat as they see as a a move by the government to remove transparency from the outcomes of the panel sitting.

Many Nigerian youth have also described the move as an attempt by the state government to silence the youths and sweep under the carpet the reports of the investigations that will be carried out by the panel.

A social media activist Bamikole Omoshore took to his Twitter page to update other youths on the new development.

He wrote,

“I don’t understand the need for oath of secrecy. @SavvyRinu And Majekodunmi are the representatives of the youth, we stand solidly with them. They should not sign any oath of secrecy. @jidesanwoolu should actually see that the panel is public and televised. #EndSARS”.

Concerned youths have since taken to the comment section to state their displeasure.

@hassancissey wrote, “are they government employees? I foresee that nothing good will come out of this already dilapidated sitting”

Another Twitter user @omopupayoyo wrote, “This is why we didn’t want no representatives in the first place. No they cant sign this paper cox this is bullshit”.

@ @Iam_Gcfr tweeted,

“No way this should be allowed! So why are they our representatives if they won’t be briefing us on what’s going on. #EndSARS #EndBadGovernanceinNIGERIA #LekkiMassaccre #endinjustice”.
