#EndPoliceBrutality: Video – Police Beats Up A Pedestrian For Not Having A Face Mask

A woman identified as Hausa Abdulsalam on the microblogging site, Twitter, has shared a video showing some police officers manhandling a hungry pedestrian for not wearing a face mask.

According to Abdulsalam, the incident happened at the front of her estate in Abuja on Sunday, October 18.

She said the incident forced her out of her ride to intervene after seeing how the officers were beating the man because he was not putting on a face mask, of which one of their men was also guilty of.

Abdulsalam revealed she offered to get the pedestrian a face mask so he can be freed but the policemen warned her to mind her business and get out of the scene, which she declined.

She could be heard in the video condemning one of the officers for hitting her after he had seized her phone while trying to cover the event.

Sharing details of the incident Abdulsalam shared; “This happened right in front of my estate in Abuja. On my way out I saw policemen chasing and manhandling a hungry pedestrian because he wasn’t wearing a mask, I came down from the car and begged them to stop beating him while I offered to go back home or give them money to buy him one but one of the policemen started telling me to mind my business and get out and I said to him that I wouldn’t go anywhere till a solution was proffered and that was how he hit and pushed me then I decided to bring out my phone.”

“My phone was grabbed by one of them, by then people started stopping and begged me to leave before I get killed for nothing.”

“Things can’t continue this way!!! I will never run away from speaking against injustice!” Abdulsalam noted.
