Nigerians React To Abba Kyari’s Death

In the early hours of today, presidential spokesman Femi Adesina announced the news of the death of Abba Kyari, the chief of staff to the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Funeral arrangements to be announced soon,” Adesina said.

Garba Shehu, the special assistant on media and publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, said Kyari died on Friday.

Kyari died from complications arising from coronavirus. He tested positive for the novel coronavirus in March after traveling to Germany with a delegation of other Nigerian officials for meetings with Siemens AG.

Following news of his death, many Nigerians have taken to microblogging platform Twitter to react to the news of his death.

While some mourn the demise of the prominent politician, many others had unfavorable things to say.

Below are some reactions:

Abba Kyari was Buhari’s right hand man. Buhari will feel this in his soul. Thoughts and prayers are with him.

Abba kyari died a mu’meen
He died a martyr (shaheedi) death from a pandemic.
He also died on a Friday, I think we all know the bonus that comes with these. What a beautiful way to die. May Allah accept his shahada, forgive his shortcomings and grant him jannatul Firdaus.

Mele Kyari@MKKyari
May Allah forgive Mallam Abba Kyari and have mercy upon him. Was a truly good man, profoundly faithful and loyal to our country.

You think Abba kyari will be moved if any man in the military or even an average citizen dies, dey there dey shout foolish sympathy.

Many Nigerians celebrated the death of Abacha.

Nigerians mourned the death of Musa Yar’Adua.

Let Nigerians react to the death of Abba Kyari they way they feel like.

No need to guilt trip anybody, what he did for Nigerians when he was alive will speak for him.

May his soul RIP

Appalling to see some Nigerians rollick to Abba Kyari’s death. This demonstrates how depleted our sense of humanness has become.
In this struggle against such a formidable enemy as COVID-19, late Kyari won’t be the last casualty.
How does an obituary benefits you? You shameless.

Abba kyari is dead.

Neither you nor your father or any of your family member is going to be his replacement

It’s also not going to magically lift you out of poverty or heal the bitterness in your heart

Why then are you celebrating??

The death of @Abba Kyari is quite pathetic.
I am not trying to politicise his death but it should be a wake up call to our political to develop our health sector.
