Ministers Donate 50% Of March Salaries To Support Covid-19 Efforts

The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed says all 43 ministers have decided to donate 50 per cent of their March salary to support the federal government’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, Lai Mohammed said the Minister of State for Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki coordinated the donation.

Mohammed quoted Saraki as saying the measure was part of efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus in Nigeria.

“This global virus outbreak will require nations, continents and smaller communities to pull together to contribute their resources and support one another,” Saraki was quoted as saying.

“This will facilitate an early resolution of the problem,” the minister added.

Nigeria has so far recorded 81 cases of COVID-19 and one death. Three patients have recovered and have since been discharged from hospital.
