Barely 24 hours after MTN offices in Bodija, Ibadan and Apapa, Lagos have been burnt, some Nigerians aggrieved by attacks on fellow citizens in South Africa have vandalised the MTN office located in Karu, a suburb of Abuja.

Fears and tension have gripped people plying and living around Shoprite, Lugbe as Policemen fired teargas canisters to halt destructive act (setting the shopping mall on fire) of a mob along airport road, Abuja.

The angry Nigerians who were almost done with setting the building ablaze were stopped by anti-riot policemen.

The protesters have set bonfires and burning tyres on the road to halt movement of vehicles and vowed that they would not leave the area until they accomplished their mission.

More policemen have been deployed in the area to restore law and order. A traffic congestion has built up on the busy road as hundreds of commuters are caught in the fracas.

Within Nigeria had earlier reported that there have been records of reprisal attacks targeted at South African businesses in the country after the recent Xenophobic attacks.

On Tuesday, violence broke out at the Shoprite outlet in Lekki, resulting in the death of one protester and the MTN office in Bodija, Ibadan was set on fire in the string of protests against targeting South African businesses.

The police said they have reinforced security around some South African business interests across the country to forestall attacks.
