LASG’ll rehabilitate dilapidated public schools – Sanwo-Olu

Lagos state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday pledged that his administration will provide a conducive and comfortable learning environment in public schools especially primary and secondary schools in the state.

The governor stated Monday at Maryland Nursery and primary school/ Maryland Inclusive Unit during a tour of some schools in the state, he was represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat

He said the administration is prioritising education as a sector, “educating our kids is important, the environment we try to teach is also important.”

The reason for the tour, the government said is “to see for ourselves some of the schools that are not in the right state, to see what will be the strategy that will be used to repair them because our children will be going on holiday very soon, so that before they come back, we will see what we can achieve in terms of rehabilitation.

“When you are in a house, you must stay there and be protected from the sun, basically, our children must be protected from the weather when they are in their classrooms.

“During the tour, we noticed that some of the doors, windows and other structural issues are affecting the school. Our plan is to ensure that our children are comfortable while in school.”

He promised that some repairs will be carried out in some of the schools and also try to reduce the density in the classrooms.

There is a parastatal of government that normally does conditional assessment, because there is a certain standard that must be met, if not met yet we will have to take them to that standard,” he assured.
