Obaseki Reacts To Attack At Oshiomhole’s Residence

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has condemned the attack on him at the residence of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.

Naija News reports that thugs on Saturday attacked the convoy of Governor Obaseki, Deputy Governor Philip Shuaibu and the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu at Iyamoh the country home of Oshiomole.

The Pro-Chancellor of Edo University, Iyahmo, Prof. T.O.K Audu was also in the convoy.

It was gathered that the youths carried out the attack in retaliation to an alleged attack on Oshiomhole’s Benin City home.

The youths attacked the convoy after sighting the man alleged to have led the attack on Oshiomole home, Andrew Momodu.

Obaseki, Oba Akiolu, Audu and other guests had attended the maiden convocation ceremony of the Edo University, Iyahmo, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

It was gathered that the Oba of Lagos alongside Obaseki were on their way to honour a lunch invitation at Oshiomhole’s house when the youths descended on their convoy.

Reacting to the incident while speaking to newsmen after leaving the APC chairman’s residence, Obaseki said it was unfortunate that his security can’t be guaranteed.

He said: “It is really unfortunate that we can’t feel safe at the house of our national chairman.

“I am not sure that if I went to the house of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, they will attack me the way they did in the house of our chairman.

“It is really unfortunate that thing has degenerated to this extent but we will continue to pursue peace and we cannot afford to lose the gains of the last three years.”
