PHOTOS: Flash Floods Take Over Abuja Roads

Heavy downpour rainfall that started in the early hours of Thursday has paralysed movement of commercial activities and disrupted vehicular moments in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Reporters observed that several vehicles and automobiles have stucked as a result of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre end of the Abuja-Zuba Expressway flooded by water.

Motorists could not pass through one side of the 10-lane highway outward Asokoro as waters have covered the road.

The road from the expressway linking Aso Drive, Department of State Services headquarters and back gate to the Presidential Villa was also impassable.

Road users coming from Kubwa end of the Federal Capital Territory were forced to make a detour and take alternative routes.

It was also observed that several shops and business centres in the Central Business District and the Three Arms Zones were still not open as of 11:00 a.m.

The House of Representatives had not started the day’s plenary as of 11:55 a.m. when this report was filed.
