Speakership: ex-council chiefs’ leader roots for Gbajabiamila

The Chairman of the League of Former Lagos State Council Chairmen, Abiodun Mafe has called on the members of the House of Representatives-elect to vote for the former the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila as the Speaker.

Mafe described Gbajabiamila as most competent among the lawmakers to lead the Lower Chamber.

Gbajabiamila, he said, is a disciplined and experienced lawmaker, who has the competencies and the experience to the House of Representatives.

He said the lawmakers couldn’t have settled for any other candidate considering the antecedents and credentials of those who are aspiring for the speakership seat.

“He is still young, vibrant and extremely articulate. He knows how marshal issues. Leadership is all about that anyway; he has a good relationship with his colleagues. He is down to the earth. He is respectful. He is capable of changing the face of governance and leadership in this country,” Mafe said.

According to him, Gbajabiamila has shown capabilities in holding the house as one as reflected in his manifestoes.

The former Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area assured that Gbajabiamila is capable of sustaining a good relationship between the executive and the legislature, between the legislature and the judiciary and party loyalists.

He said he is one candidate, who will place preference on the interest of Nigeria above personal interests.

“Gbajabiamila is loved by his colleagues. They believe in his competencies. It’s very good for any candidate to garner the kind of support he has gained among his co-lawmakers. That is a pointer to the fact that he is brilliant and well experienced to lead the House,” Mafe said.
