Minimum Wage: All States Have Resources To Pay N30,000 – Barnabas Gemade

In respect to the N30,000 minimum wage, the Senator representing Benue Northeast Senatorial constituency, Barnabas Gemade stated that no state Governor should have an excuse not to pay the minimum wage.

Gemade who contested under the Social Democratic Party during the February 23 National Assembly election stated that states have enough resources to pay the minimum wage.

He called out governors who complain of inadequate resources, he further stated that if the resources in the states are well managed, payment of wages will be easy.

He also stated that candidates including State governors spent huge amount of money on votes buying during the general elections.

The lawmaker noted that it was the resources of states that were used by governors for their election.

“There is no state in the country that cannot pay the N30,000 National minimum wage. They have enough resources to pay.”

“I saw in the just concluded elections how votes were massively bought by the state resources and nobody should tell Nigerians that they cannot pay. They should pay,” the lawmaker insisted.
