U.S Government shutdown: VP, Mike meets house republicans

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence has met House Republicans amid government shutdown now in its 19th day over questions of funding for a border wall.

The lawmakers are hopeful Democrats and Republicans can come together to resolve the issue. While some are in support of the funding, others feel it is not necessary.

A growing proportion of Americans blame President Donald Trump for a partial government shutdown that will cut off paychecks to federal workers this week.

The president had asked Congress for nearly $6 billion for the wall but Democratic leaders in Congress refused to approve funding for additional border fencing, saying that it is an ineffective way to secure the border.
