Willie Obiano hails Chukwuemeka Ojukwu’s legacies

Governor Willie Obiano says the history of Nigeria will be incomplete without mentioning the name of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

He stated this during the maiden annual memorial lecture series of the late Ikemba Nnewi, at the Ben Nwazojie Law Auditorium of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus.

Governor Obiano, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke called on Ndigbo to always speak with one voice in matters affecting them, stressing that their unity will help in building a greater force towards national development.

He called on the university authorities to uphold the legacies of good education, urging them to always nuture quality students that will compete and be recognized globally.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Greg Nwakaobi, said the lecture was a background for subsequent ones maintaining that its purpose was to refresh the memories of what Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu stood for.

In a lecture on “Between Force of Reason and Reason for Force: Legacies of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu,” Professor Chidi Odinkalu who commended the State government’s decision in re-naming the University after the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu maintained that the lecture was instituted to honour his legacies and those of his generation.
